The pandemic-induced lockdown increased the popularity of gaming, but Aayush Agarwal was already a gamer. According to Aayush, the adventure started six years ago when he happened to notice a gaming conference taking place where he was attending a medicine conference. "I traveled to Hyderabad to attend a pharmaceutical conference for the business I was then employed at. That evening, I had some free time and discovered that the same hotel was hosting a gaming convention. I realized how significant the gaming possibility was because I was at the conference.

I had dinners with a select group of representatives from Nazara and other well-known gaming businesses and was completely enthralled by the industry," explains Aayush.

The second time's a charm.

Aayush didn't have to wait long to find himself immersed in the gaming world. He founded Zhakaas Games LLP with a close buddy in 2018 after six months of study. Aayush swiftly moved on to the next project because he still had the urge to find anything. In March 2020, he created a business once more, this time with his own money. His wife Mahek Agarwal joined him in founding the business and served as the source of the moniker "BooBoo Games" as well.

Operator in the hyper casual gaming market is BooBoo Games Pvt Ltd. This indicates that players between the ages of 5 and 75 can enjoy the games developed by the company. Additionally, it creates games for other marketplaces and gaming firms. The founders of Zhakaas Games first outsourced game development. Aayush made the decision to establish an internal development team because it would increase the cost at BooBoo Games. At first, the company had six employees. But Aayush soon ran into a problem. In Ahmedabad, he claims, "it took us about a year and a half to establish a staff of 25." Around 20 different games are produced monthly by BooBoo Games.

Its method includes keeping the number of games high to improve the likelihood of finding a hit game. BooBoo Games typically needs two weeks to produce one game. According to Aayush, "instead of investing a lot of effort on making one game, we feel the more games we make, the greater the chance that one of them could become a massive sensation." These games can get their inspiration from a variety of sources. According to Aayush, it might even be a TikTok craze. "My wife often suggests ideas for new games on social media. Many gaming businesses started making games based on themes from the show when Squid Game became a tremendous success," he claims.

The outcome was Pillow Fight Leagues. Along with 300 more super casual game titles, BooBoo Games' portfolio includes many more games like Roller Coaster Ride, Pillow Fight League, Pool Guard Stack, and Water My Farm. BooBoo Games also asserts that it makes games for other gaming businesses with offices in India and other countries. Winzo, which has secured approximately $110 million from Griffin Gaming Partners and other investors, is a potential partner for the company. BooBoo Games shares profits with game publishers on a profit-sharing basis, collecting 30% of the revenue.

Additionally, BooBoo Games doesn't self-publish any games; all games are made in collaboration with third parties. In-game adverts help the corporation make money in addition to the games. In the fiscal years 2020–21 and 2021–22, BooBoo Games earned Rs 1.88 crore through games and advertisements, and Rs 4.55 crore. It was once a startup that was bootstrapped and is now aiming to raise $1 million, of which $165,000 has already been raised. These resources will be applied to the creation of video games in a variety of fields, including blockchain, non-fungible token, and metaverse.

What does a gamer's appetite resemble?

According to a report published by Maple Capital Advisors in August 2020, India's $885 million gaming business, which is supported by expanding digital infrastructure and is driven by a young demographic, is predicted to increase at a rate of 41.6% (FY20-21). In the quarter of FY 2022-23 that concluded in June, players like Nazara Technologies generated Rs 223.1 crore, a 70% increase in revenue year over year. Dream11, Mobile Premier League, and WinZO, three fantasy gaming companies based in Mumbai, have also enjoyed significant increases in their earnings and market value over the past two years.
